James, Phil White and Ted Reeve arenas. The Women’s division

7) |
ICE TIMES - GAMES – Game times will not be
finalized until we know how many teams we will have in each
division. We are also still in the process of finalizing ice
permits for the 2011/2012 season. Expected playing time for
Learn-to-Play is 7:00 am at Leaside and possibly Ted Reeve.
Novice and Atom games are expected to be at Leaside Gardens or
Angela James between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. Peewee, Bantam and
Midget division games are expected to be at Leaside from 12:00
pm to 3:00 pm and other arenas late morning or early afternoon.
To the extent possible we will give each division regular
playing times similar to the 2010-2011 season. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
8) |
SEASON START/END – The season starts in late
September and generally ends at the end of March. The season
culminates with a championship day with all players involved.
For all youth divisions, a banquet follows the championship
games with awards for all players. For women’s division, a
gathering to celebrate the season and honour the champions
follows the championship and consolation final games. |
|
|
|
|
9) |
PRACTICES – Practices are included in house
league fees for the Novice, Atom and Peewee divisions. There
will be practices on most Saturdays. We hope to keep the
practices at arenas close to our community. At this time, we are
optimistic of having Novice and Atom practices on Saturday
morning and Peewee practices mid-afternoon. |
|
|
|
|
10) |
OPTIONAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS (EXTRA FEE)
– We are introducing optional bi-weekly weeknight skills
development sessions. These sessions will be led by professional
instructors and will emphasize skating, puck handling, passing
and shooting. Novice and Atom sessions will be at Moss Park on
Tuesdays at 7:00pm. Peewee and Bantam sessions will be at Forest
Hill on Wednesdays at 8:10pm. |

11) |
TOURNAMENT TEAM PROGRAM (EXTRA FEE) – Subject
to level of interest and availability of volunteer team
managers, trainers and coaches, there will be a House League
tournament team program. The program will include teams that
participate in 3 or 4 tournaments throughout the season. The
additional cost will be about $500, subject mainly to entry fees
for tournaments. There is no competitive selection process for
this program. Players are accepted on a first-come basis in the
order that on-line registrations are received. Express interest
by answering "yes" to the question in the online registration.
For returning players please note: we will not be using the
Expression of Interest form this season. |

|
12) |
DEVELOPMENT STREAM (DS) PROGRAM (EXTRA FEE) –
The Ontario Women's Hockey Association is conducting a pilot
project, the Development Stream, similar to the "house league
select" program in co-ed hockey. Subject to level of interest
and availability of volunteers, there will be DS teams in all
youth house league divisions. The program will include
additional practice, exhibition games and participation in
tournaments. The additional cost is yet to be determined but
should be between $500 and $1,000. There will be a competitive
selection process for this program. Players will be invited to a
try-out in the fall. Express interest by answering "yes" to the
question in the online registration. Additional program details
will be announced soon. |
|
|
|
|
13) |
REQUESTS FOR PLAYERS TO BE PLACED ON TEAMS WITH FRIENDS
AND BALANCING – In the interest of fair and balanced
competition, TLGHA reserves the right to assign players to teams
and move players as needed to achieve reasonable competitive
balance among teams in the division. To that end, TLGHA offers
no guarantee that requests for a player to be placed on the same
team as another will be accommodated. Such requests are
accommodated on a best efforts basis and not at the expense of
fair and balanced competition. A place has been added to the
on-line registration to record a request. REQUESTS WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED BY PHONE, FAX or EMAIL. |
|
|
|
|
14) |
VOLUNTEERS –We need over 200 volunteers to run
the house league. Coaches, assistant coaches and trainers are
required for each house league team. WE MUST HAVE A CERTIFIED
TRAINER ON THE BENCH AT EVERY HOUSE LEAGUE GAME. Each division
requires volunteers to assist with coordination, communication,
game sheets and statistics. We strongly encourage women to
assist as bench staff. No experience is necessary. Leaside
provides training sessions for coaches, assistant coaches and
trainers at no cost to volunteers. Some of the training sessions
can be taken online and may take as little as a few hours. |
